The Children's Place
The Children’s Place is Kansas City’s leading trauma-informed early childhood education program and counseling center. Children 0-8 who have experienced any kind of trauma. The newly renovated space in Kansas City, MO provides a warm and caring environment for children, families, community volunteers, brave caregivers and trained therapists. The Children’s Place rebranded in 2018 and took on a hopeful, welcoming and inclusive identity with playful colors, warm language and recognizable iconography.
As a non-profit, the renovation was financed by the hundreds of donors who support The Children’s Place. These donors are recognized in the reception space that incorporates a play component for the families as they wait. Bright colors and cheerful graphic elements weave their way through the building utilizing iconic imagery like a teddy bears, rainbows and hearts that are all designed to give peace of mind and playful recognition to a young child. A 5 ft. bear waits at the bus entrance as a symbol of a loving hug as children walk through the doors. The new bear was dedicated as “Rudy the Bear” after Mr. Rudy, a staff member that retired after 42 years of service at The Children’s Place.
